The Design Museum

The Design Museum commissioned onedotzero to create an animation that would form part of their permanent collection in the Designer, Maker, User exhibition. This short animation explains the principles of Moore’s Law and its impact on design and society over the last 60 years. From the space race to the singularity – the short film goes on to explore how the effects of exponential technological growth might continue to dictate the future of the human race.

Using the language of the Command Line Terminal, we felt it important that the computer tell the story, relying on a minimal vectors, ASCII art and monospaced lines of scrolling code. My role within this project was prominent from original concept development to story boarding and designing assets to animate.

Designer Maker User at The Design Museum features almost 1000 items of twentieth and twenty-first century design viewed through the perspective of the designer, maker, and user. The exhibition covers a broad range of design disciplines, from architecture and engineering, to the digital world, fashion and graphics.
